Remote Rate and Total Display Wall or Panel Mounting Programmable Outputs Steam and Gas Applications
Product Overview

Remote Mass and Energy Display

The Cadillac CDIS is a remote display and totalizing device designed to receive a compensated or mass pulse signal from a compatible Cadillac CV-series vortex flow meter. It provides operators with a convenient local display while also supporting selected retransmission, pulse and alarm functions.

Depending on the configured measurement system, the CDIS can calculate and display volume, mass or energy in user-defined engineering units. The front display provides instantaneous rate, a resettable total and an accumulated total.

The CDIS shares its electronics platform and configuration architecture with the Cadillac HEATX energy meter. This gives facilities using both products a consistent operator interface and a familiar front-panel programming method.

Compatible Meter Family Primarily documented for Cadillac CV-P, CV-HS and CV-U vortex meters
Application Basis Saturated steam or fixed-pressure gas according to the paired meter configuration
Mounting Options Wall-mount enclosure or panel-mount display

Selection note: Compatibility, measurement quantities and available outputs depend on the complete meter and display configuration. Confirm the proposed flow-meter pairing and process conditions with Cadillac Meter before specifying the system.

Operating Principle

From Flow Signal to Usable System Data

The paired Cadillac flow meter performs the primary measurement and sends a compensated or mass pulse signal to the CDIS. The CDIS applies the configured scaling and calculation parameters, presents the measurement locally and provides the selected outputs to the connected monitoring or control system.

Step 1 Flow Measurement The compatible flow meter measures the process flow and produces the configured signal.
Step 2 Pulse Signal A compensated or mass pulse signal is transmitted from the flow meter to the CDIS.
Step 3 CDIS Calculation The display applies the programmed K-factor, time base, scaling and optional linearization.
Step 4 Display and Output Rate and totals are shown locally and the configured outputs are sent to other systems.

Information Shown Locally

  • Instantaneous measurement rate
  • Resettable measurement total
  • Accumulated measurement total
  • Configured engineering units

Available System Outputs

  • Scaled or unscaled pulse output
  • High or low alarm functions
  • Two configurable relay outputs
  • Optional 4–20 mA DC retransmission

Important distinction: The CDIS is the display, calculation and output interface within the measurement station. Overall measurement accuracy depends primarily on the correctly selected and installed flow meter, its calibration and the complete system configuration.

System Integration

Flow-Meter Connection and Field Wiring

In the saturated-steam system documented in the CDIS brochure, the wall-mount enclosure powers the paired CV-P vortex meter and receives its mass pulse signal. The CDIS then provides the local display and configured outputs required by the monitoring or control system.

Process Measurement

CV-Series Vortex Meter

The correctly sized and configured vortex meter performs the primary process measurement and generates the signal used by the CDIS.

Local Interface

CDIS Remote Display

The CDIS receives the incoming signal, applies the programmed scaling, displays rate and totals, and operates the selected relay or analog outputs.

External System

BMS, DCS or Control Panel

Configured outputs can provide measured data or alarms to a building-management system, distributed control system or external control panel.

Connection or Function Legacy Brochure Guidance
Flow-meter connection Three-wire connection between the CV-P vortex meter and the CDIS enclosure.
Flow-meter power The documented wall-mount enclosure supplies 24 VDC for operation of the paired CV-P meter through its internal power supply.
Pulse input The CV-P sends its pulse input to the CDIS through the third wire and shares the common used by the power connection.

Verification Required

Confirm Current Availability

The structure above is taken from the legacy CDIS brochure. Confirm current model combinations, certifications and approval status with Cadillac Meter before preparing a final specification.

System Specification

Performance and Selection Guidance

CDIS performance must be considered as part of the complete measurement station. The display processes the incoming signal, but overall measurement accuracy and range depend on the paired flow meter, process conditions, calibration and installation.

Complete-System Selection

Select the flow meter and display using the actual fluid, pressure, temperature, line size and required operating range. Nominal pipe size alone is not sufficient.

Factory Configuration

The CDIS can be configured for the selected meter, units, scaling, outputs and alarm functions before shipment. Front-panel adjustment remains available where required.

Installation Conditions

Straight run, piping disturbances, electrical environment, enclosure requirements and output loading must be reviewed for the actual installation.

Brochure-Defined Item Selection Guidance
Primary flow-meter families The product-specific brochure identifies Cadillac CV-P, CV-HS and CV-U vortex meters for saturated-steam or fixed-pressure-gas mass measurement.
Saturated-steam accuracy The legacy system specification states ±1.00% of rate for the correctly configured vortex meter in saturated steam. This is not a standalone CDIS display-accuracy specification.
Turndown The brochure states up to 30:1 turndown when the flow meter is selected as the best fit for the stated process conditions.
Calibration The legacy saturated-steam system specification calls for a NIST-traceable calibration certificate supplied with the measurement system.
Straight-run requirements Confirm the required upstream and downstream straight run for the selected flow meter, line size and actual upstream disturbance. Do not apply one generic distance to every installation.
Certifications and approvals Confirm current area classifications, hazardous approvals, enclosure rating and applicable certification status at quotation.

Compatibility Requires Confirmation

The current product webpage contains broader input language that mentions CMAG, EMAG, CV and CU meters. The attached CDIS brochure defines the product around CV-series vortex systems. Any proposed use with CMAG, EMAG, CU or another pulse-producing meter should therefore be reviewed and confirmed by Cadillac Meter before the CDIS is specified.
